A Letter from the Superintendent

I am excited to begin my second year as the Superintendent of Tekonsha Community Schools! We had a GREAT year last year, and we are looking forward to another exciting year!

This has been a summer of changes. We have made some positive changes and updates to our facilities, finishing the air conditioning project started over a year ago, adding updated instructional technology, refinishing our gym floor, and more! We also have a fresh coat of paint in the middle school hallways and in some of our classrooms. We appreciate the hard work that our custodial, maintenance, and tech staff have put in this summer getting ready for school! And we want to give a huge shout out to Michele Stuart for her countless hours of painting!

It has also been a summer with a lot of staffing changes. We celebrated the retirement of longtime teacher and athletic director, Tim Jenkins, last May. We also lost some valuable teaching staff to new educational opportunities in their own professional journeys, with the resignations of Mr. Wisel, Mrs. Newland, and Miss Ardrey. The staff changes also led to some shifting in teaching responsibilities and schedules. We appreciate your patience waiting to hear information on the 2023-24 schedule. It has been an ever changing work in progress all summer! We still have some open positions that we are actively working to fill. If you have ever considered going into education, now is the time! If you have at least 60 credit hours of college education, consider signing up to become a substitute teacher this year! We can certainly use all of the help that we can get. There are also a lot of opportunities to get certified with an alternative pathway if you have ever wanted to become a teacher. If you are interested in learning more, please give me a call!

Thank you to the Tekonsha Board of Education, our Tekonsha community, and all of our families, students and staff for your continued support of Tekonsha Schools! I look forward to a great 2023-24 school year! I encourage parents to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, either by email at [email protected] or by calling the office at 767-4121.

Sincerely,

Mrs. JoEllen O'Keefe
