A Letter from the Superintendent

I am excited to begin my third year as the Superintendent of Tekonsha Community Schools! We had a GREAT year last year, and we are looking forward to another exciting year!

The summer was busy at Tekonsha Community Schools with some facilities improvements, technology updates, curriculum adoptions, and the deep cleaning and maintenance that helps keep our district looking great! We are excited for some of the work completed, including:

  • New elementary ELA and MS/HS social studies curriculum
  • New Chromebooks and cases to continue our 1:1 program
  • Installation of additional interactive whiteboards so all general education classrooms have one
  • New-to-us desks and tables in the elementary and high school
  • New safety door handles on all classrooms district-wide
  • New safety door labels on all rooms district-wide
  • New safety exterior door labels district-wide
  • Installation of new radios in school buses
  • Fresh paint in classrooms and the kitchen!
  • Installation of a washer and dryer in the elementary
  • Construction of stairway and storage above the stage
  • Updated all drinking fountains to add filtered bottle fillers in middle school and elementary
  • New bathroom stalls in boys bathroom and locker room
  • New bus garage door
  • New kitchen equipment, including industrial refrigerator and salad bar

Special thank you to all of the individuals that work so hard over the summer to get these projects done! A special thank you to Michele Stuart for her hours volunteering to paint to make the facilities look so great!

Thank you to the Tekonsha Board of Education, our Tekonsha community, and all of our families, students and staff for your continued support of Tekonsha Schools! I look forward to a great 2024-25 school year! I encourage parents to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, either by email at [email protected] or by calling the office at 767-4121.

Sincerely,

Mrs. JoEllen O'Keefe
