Solar Eclipse Assembly

Solar Eclipse Assembly

On Thursday, February 29, students at both Tekonsha Elementary and Tekonsha MS/HS enjoyed a presentation from Mr. Richard Bell of the Kalamazoo Astronomical Society on the upcoming solar eclipse happening on April 8, 2024. He gave a great explanation of the science behind the eclipse, how to safely view the eclipse, and a detailed map showing the path of totality. Tekonsha will experience a 97% eclipse, he shared, but he enthusiastically encouraged all viewers to make it to the path of the total eclipse if you can!

Mr. Bell shared some actual pictures he took of a previous total solar eclipse, showing in detail the different stages of the eclipse and the beauty of a total eclipse. His presentation, along with safety viewing glasses that will be provided to all students in April, were generously made possible through a Binda Foundation/CISD mini grant.
