Athletic Boosters Winter Favorite Athlete

As we mentioned in the last TCS News to Know, the Tekonsha Athletic Boosters completed their favorite winter athlete fundraiser earlier this month, with the top prize winners being 1st - Parker White, 2nd - Dylan Griffith, and 3rd - Blake Griffith. Here is a spotlight from the Boosters on the 1st place winner for most money earned!

1st Place - Parker White

Tekonsha Athletic Boosters would like to present our first place Favorite Winter Sport Athlete Parker White. Parker is a sophomore and starting JV Basketball player. His parents are Sonya and Phil Knowlan and Jeff and Lynn White. Parker has attended Tekonsha schools since kindergarten and started playing basketball in sixth grade.

Parker’s coach, Ms. Kelsie Russell said “Parker’s hard work and dedication throughout the season was shown through his leadership on the JV team.” We asked a fellow teammate of Parker’s, Kaden Knapp, what makes Parker a good teammate. He said, “He communicates down low and on offense, and he always makes sure we know what we are doing and helps us to his best capability.” We asked varsity player Dylan Griffith what he has enjoyed the most about watching Parker play. He said, "at practice that I notice Parker, he is very determined to be a better player.”

We asked Parker what is his favorite thing about playing basketball, and he said, “It's about the community, from teammates to spectators.” His number one spectator, his mother, Sonya Knowlan, said “Regardless of his playing time, regardless of the sport, he is dedicated and determined. He will support his teammates from the sidelines/bench just the same as if he were on the court.”

Parker has advice for the middle schooler just trying basketball and it is, “to always try your hardest and make sure to have fun.” He is looking forward to playing varsity next year because he will still get to play with his friends. He also really wants to thank his parents, friends, and family for helping him win this honor.

Boosters is proud of Parker and are excited to see him play in the future. We would also like to thank his family and friends for contributing to this fundraiser.
