FAFSA Fun!

FAFSA Fun!

An important step for all seniors as they prepare for college life is the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, more commonly known as the FAFSA! This important document is required by all colleges to create a student's financial aid package. It can be a very overwhelming process for both students and parents!

Tekonsha's HS/MS Counselor, Mrs. Brenda Tew, hosted a FAFSA completion night on Thursday, February 22, where students and parents were supported by both Mrs. Tew and a representative from Kellogg Community College's Financial Aid Office. It was especially helpful this year, as the federal government released a brand-new revised FAFSA in January!

Also new this year, the State of Michigan provided grant funding to schools to help students with this process. With our grant funds, Mrs. Tew was able to give a gift basket of college school supplies to every student that came to FAFSA night. If they weren't able to come, they can still get the supplies just by completing the FAFSA. Additionally, students that complete their FAFSA are entered into a raffle to win some fun prizes, including a Stanley cup, wireless headphones, gift cards, and a Chromebook for college!
