Two Tekonsha juniors had the opportunity of a lifetime this fall to attend the FFA National Convention. Lena Halbert and Elise Willison traveled to Indianapolis, IN for the event from October 23-26. Both students are in the Agriscience program at the CACC and are active members of the CACC Chapter of the FFA. They both also stated that one of the most impressive things was seeing so many people in one place!
This was the 97th National FFA Convention, in which members from all of the country travel to meet and celebrate the values and mission of FFA. According to FFA.org, "FFA is the premier youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture." The National Convention included a national meeting, contests, and an expo filled with colleges and vendors representing products and career opportunities within the ag industry. They also had the opportunity to listen to influential key note speakers, including Dr. Temple Grandin, a prominent author and speaker on both autism and animal behavior.
